I've had a small 5x5 unit here for a few years and I recently got another unit that's 5x10.
The prices are great (especially when they have specials) and my 5x5 unit has barely gone up in price. I've only had the 5x10 unit for the past few months, but I'm hoping it will be the same!🤞🏻 The property manager Justin has been amazingly helpful throughout my time having my units here. The property is also very clean and is never super busy. I've had units at other storage places before and haven't experienced the same thing (some of them have been really dirty, with questionable smells, seemingly busy 24/7, and drastically increased in price after a year of renting).
I’ve seen some other reviews mention issues like the app freezing for access and dollys not being available. I haven’t had any issues with the app and have Verizon coverage, so maybe it has to do with specific wireless companies (idk). On that note though, sometimes I’m too lazy to even pull out my phone and go to the app, so I use the manual code instead. It’s 7 digits and for me personally it’s not difficult to remember. If I haven’t been to the property in a while, then I have to re-check my code, but after that it’s pretty simple.
I have noticed that the dollys get snatched up quickly, so if you’re moving a ton of stuff into storage, it would be a good idea to rent one from uhaul (or wherever) and bring one with you. Every time I move, I already rent a dolly to begin with, so it hasn’t been an issue. I also have a personal wagon cart that I bring with me, so if you have one of those, definitely bring it just in case!
In my years renting from them, I only
had an issue with the elevator once. The elevator was out of service for a few hours. I had to be out of my apartment unit that day and still had a bunch of stuff to move, so I was extremely stressed, but within a few hours the elevator was fixed and running again. In retrospect, I should have planned ahead and not left everything to the last moment, but I was thankful for how quickly the elevator was in service again. If you’re the type of person who procrastinates and leaves everything to last minute like me, maybe get a first floor unit just in case 🤣 but like I said, it was fixed promptly, so 🤷🏻♀️ Anywayyyy, thanks public storage, you’ve been fab!

Why does this place close at 6? People get off work at 5. Sit in traffic for an hour. Why am I being restricted access to my own valuables. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with this location. If I didn’t have my unit as full as it is I would have already moved out.
Update: I updated the review because the Area manager was super helpful and attentive.
If it wasnt for the friendly reminder calls im sure im like everyone else and I can be so busy so its easy to get lost in the sauce! I really appreciate how diligent Justins team here is I would've missed my payment had they not called me 10times! Justin saved me $100s of dollars but showing me how to not miss anymore payments and downloaded the app for me.

Stopped by to check out the small 5X10 available units to see if that was all I needed. Justin showed me an example of what I would be renting which was quite roomy enough. It was a very pleasant and informative visit and I very much appreciated his thoroughness and patience with me. I am a senior citizen and move about rather slowly so Justin was very nice to not rush me along. I will return soon to rent a unit and I look forward to visiting with Justin again.

While speaking with Angela a lady came out of the office ,I believe her name is Kineka, she was very rude to Angela and didn’t care that a customer,myself, was standing there. She never acknowledged me , only begin to raise her voice at Angela. I’ve never seen this individual before and had I met her upon renting my space i would’ve left and took my money elsewhere. She definitely needs coaching on how to behave in the workplaces. I’ve always said treat each customer with respect because you never know who that person may be. Kineka, I pray you are never in a situation like myself. You do NOT belong in your position. I will be contacting corporate about your behavior.

I accidentally dropped my keys, with the keys to my new storage unit, my car, my house, everything, they bounced and fell into the gap between the elevator and the building, straight down the elevator shaft. 😱😓

The security is best I've ever had personally ! Clean environment the staff is friendly for most interactions I had ! And to add on to the security factor it is literally across the street from the Dallas police station .to finish this review at the end of the day I know my belongings are safe and leaves me with care free ,peace of mind !

If I can make one recommendation for how to navigate storing your property with Public Storage @ Chestnut, work with your local managers, not corporate customer support, if you have an issue arise. From my dealings with them, I get the feeling that the site and area manager both care about the customer service provided and certainly helped me out when I needed it.

Great customer service every time I’ve needed assistance. I recently vacated my unit and I must say that the manager Kim helped assure me that I wouldn’t be charged after leaving which eased my concerns so much. Clean facility, passcode secured, easy location and no weird smells inside the storage building.The facility wasn’t too hot in the summer and or cold right now so I liked not being outside in Texas lol. Overall I would use this location again if needed.
