Located in central Fort Bend County, Rosenberg lies about 35 miles southwest of Houston on the south bank of the Brazos River. Nearly 42,000 diverse residents enjoy Rosenberg’s historic charm, vibrant cultural district, and good schools. Rosenberg History

Town founder and namesake Henry Von Rosenberg arrived in Texas from Switzerland in 1843. The town got its start in 1883, when Rosenberg was the first president of Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway.

So many rail lines eventually passed through Rosenberg, it earned the nickname Hub of the Gulf Coast. Learn more about the town’s story at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum. Historic Downtown Rosenberg offers not only train history and restored buildings from its beginnings, but antiques, boutiques, cultural arts, casual dining, live theater and music performances, and visual art to enrich everyone’s lives.

Things to do in Rosenberg

Rosenberg Civic Center offers all kinds of activities and classes no matter your age. History lovers can visit the beloved Railroad Museum and the Black Cowboy Museum, where tales of spurs, roping, and cattle drives relate the considerable contribution of African Americans to cowboy life.

Downtown is home to the state-designated Cultural District, where you’ll find Cast Theatrical Company, Fort Bend Art Center, Rosenberg Art Alliance, and Rosenberg Symphony, to name a few. Mural programs, exhibitions, festivals, tastings, and seasonal events routinely include many of the town culture-makers.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy Rosenberg’s many parks, including its largest: Seabourne Creek Nature Park. Many year-round big events are held at Seabourne Park, where you can fish, hike the walking trails, or picnic. Outside town, head to Brazos Bend State Park to marvel at nature, hike and bike, fish, horseback ride, and camp overnight, and then marvel again at the night sky at George Observatory. Major arteries serving Rosenberg are U.S. 59 and I-69 through town, plus nearby I-10. George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the largest, while numerous regional airports include Sugar Land, Houston Southwest, and Houston Executive, among others.

The A-rated Lamar Consolidated Independent School District provides K-12 public education for Rosenberg students. Graduates can further their education to target 21st century careers at Wharton County Junior College and the new Texas State Technical College Fort Bend Campus in Rosenberg, plus University of Houston Sugar Land nearby.
