The History of Cheektowaga

Native Americans originally inhabited the area that's now Cheektowaga. European settlers established the first settlements in the early 1800s, forming the town of Amherst. In 1821, the town was divided, creating the separate towns of Amherst and Cheektowaga. Cheektowaga was incorporated in 1839.
