my worst experience:
- run down and NOT CLEAN
- security is kind of a joke. I would not be comfortable leaving anything worth more than a few hundred bucks in there.
- You CANNOT choose the specific unit you want, it will RANDOMLY be assigned to you, and the guy onsite told me COME BACK ON MONDAY bc I don’t have the ipad with me!
- first of all one is onsite, you need to CALL ahead of time. and even when you do that you need to WAIT for someone RUDE to show up and ending up being not useful at all (they couldn’t answer our questions or even change our unit to a different one).
- The do NOT have any dollies/moving cart/ etc. the guy told me you should bring yours (WHAT every time I need to put/get something I should also carry a dolly w me?! freaking ridiculous)
- obviously ended up not moving in after seeing the situation, and still GOT CHARGED with the full month.
You have plenty of other options for storage, don’t be fooled by $20 cheaper price you see online. A lot of other companies offer specials like 6month half-price which makes them both CHEAPER and BETTER VALUE than public storage. Try Extra Space on east bay and Soma Storage in SF.

Knowing Public Storage can be tough with rent increases, knowing I have great staff like her on my side, helping look out for customers, puts me at ease.

She has consistently been a pleasure to work with, always provides excellent customer service, and has done everything possible to resolve issues that are within and beyond her control. The bureaucratic corporate system at Public Storage is not at all user-friendly, but she has helped me navigate the bureaucratic murky waters professionally, thoughtfully, and humanely. Service is 5 stars, yes, Shasta is amazing.
The prices have gone up more than 100% since i moved in while escaping covid in march 2020. I rented 5x5 which is far away from car access, you have to walk through a locked door for about 20 yards. I rented it out for around $60 in march 2020 then in couple months it was $86, then $96, then it stayed at $108 for at least a year, now went up to $137. Too much for me. I rented that bc in march 2020 all storages were closed and Shasta was the only manager willing to meet me to rent. I didnt fill half of that space
The storage itself is not fantastic, one side is to a hill and the bottom of the wall does not meet the floor, i.e. the dirt is showing as the wall is too short. If there are heavy rains, that will get muddy or flood.
Luckily my stuff on the top at least looks ok, i will find out what happened to the bottom.... after sitting there for 2 yrs now....
