There are plenty of people moving to the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, and to accommodate them, we recently opened six more Public Storage locations in and around the Twin Cities. This growth increases our presence in the state by 12 percent.

We bought and converted existing storage businesses into Public Storage facilities around the Minneapolis metro area and the City of Hutchinson. We have a strong brand recognition in Minnesota with about 50 locations in the state, and we plan to keep on growing!

“These locations make us more competitive in Minneapolis and give us a larger footprint in the Twin Cities,”; said Ryan Nelson, a Public Storage regional manager. “People are moving from rural areas in the state to the urban and suburban markets, and the population shift is driving the area’s development and the need for storage.”;

Minneapolis Metro Area Boosted By Strong Economy

The cold winter weather in Minneapolis and St. Paul isn’t stopping hardworking Americans from going there to look for a great place to call home.

Since 2010, the area’s population grew by about 10 percent, according to the U.S. Census. Locals say the job prospects and affordable housing, compared to some other major U.S. metro areas, are driving the increase.

“The Minneapolis area has been growing over the last couple years, because of the job market,”; said Charles Gardiner, a Public Storage senior manager. “The unemployment rate is very, very low in Minnesota.”;

Huge company headquarters, like those of United Health Group, Target, Best Buy and 3M, thrive in Minneapolis, bringing corporate-minded workers to town.

And who wouldn’t want to stay long-term thanks to all the fun things to do in town? From Vikings games at U.S. Bank Stadium to the world-famous Mall of America, there are plenty of reasons to love living in or near Minneapolis. Just don’t forget a jacket….a very warm jacket.

Besides the Twin Cities’ abundant job prospects, the area also has a good quality of life. In fact, the U.S. News and World Report ranked it as one of the Top 10 Best Places to Live in the country!
