      <video:title>Public Storage: How to Move a Piano</video:title>
<video:description>Moving a piano isn’t exactly glamorous. But Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you how to move a piano properly and make sure you hit all of the right notes. For other helpful tips or how-to videos, visit https://www.publicstorage.com

First, close and lock the piano so that the keys stay protected during transport.

Once that is done, find an old blanket or some padding and wrap it around the piano using stretch wrap. This will help protect the piano from dings and scratches that sometimes occur during transport. Make sure to wrap the entire piano from top to bottom.

Next, recruit a friend to help lift the piano on to a dolly. To avoid injury, tighten your core and make sure to lift the piano with your legs, not your back. Most pianos will have handles that are built in to the back. Use these when lifting on to a dolly. You can also hire professionals if this task is daunting or if you don't have assistance.

      <video:title>Public Storage Video</video:title>
<video:description>Public Storage Video that describes self storage and choosing the right storage unit.

For most people, visualizing a 5’ x 10’ space can be difficult, which makes choosing the right size storage space a guessing game. That’s why Frank from Public Storage is here to help you learn how to choose the right size storage space. For other great tips, or to check out our interactive size guide, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.

The first thing you want to do is gather everything that you might want to put into storage. If items need to be packed, put them into boxes. Public Storage can help with those, too.

Get some tape and a tape measure and mark out the space you think you need on the ground to help you visualize the size. Depending on how much stuff you have, you can start with a 5' x 10', 10' x 10', 10' x 20', etc.

Start moving everything you plan on storing into the taped area. Remember, most ceilings are 8’ high, so you can stack items — just not too high. If you realize that a certain size space is too small, you can always re-measure a larger size. All space sizes are listed on https://www.publicstorage.com.

Once a new area is measured, move everything back in to see if it fits. If it does with a little extra space around the edges, then you've found the right size for you.

Public Storage wants to make it easy for you to get the right size storage space. If you liked this video, stick around and learn more helpful tips.</video:description>

<video:title>Public Storage: How to Store and Move a Refrigerator</video:title>
<video:description>So you’re ready to move your refrigerator — the only problem is you have no idea how to move a refrigerator or how to get it prepped for storage. Frank from Public Storage is here to show you how. For other great storage tips, or to find storage near you, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.

Start by unplugging the refrigerator to let the freezer defrost.
Next, clean out the fridge and remove everything from your fridge and freezer (if applicable).

Then, place a ball of tape inside the door so air can travel inside and keep it dry. This helps prevent mold from growing while your fridge is not in use.

Once the tape is propped in the door, wrap the door in tape, rope or stretch wrap to keep it shut during transport.

Now comes the part where you actually move it. For short distances without stairs, you can use a wooden rolling dolly (although an appliance dolly may make your life easier). If stairs are part of your journey, we recommend using an appliance dolly. There’s nothing more heartbreaking (or backbreaking) than a fallen refrigerator.

<video:title>Public Storage: How to Easily Move Heavy Furniture</video:title>
<video:description>Just round up your gym-loving friends and push, right?! Not exactly. Moving heavy furniture can be dangerous if not done properly. Frank from Public Storage is here to make sure you move your heavy items without damaging your back, your furniture or your floor. For more tips on how you can move heavy furniture, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.

The first thing you want to do is make sure that everything is removed from the inside of the furniture. This could mean emptying the drawers or cabinet area.

Once that is finished, you can either remove the drawers and cabinet doors or secure them so that they won't swing or slide open during transport. This can be done easily with stretch wrap from Public Storage (https://supplies.publicstorage.com/browse/moving-supplies-packing-supplies/packing-supplies/stretch-film/20-stretch-film-208).

After the piece of furniture has been secured, the next step is to find sliders to put underneath each leg. These help avoid injuries that may occur from trying to lift or push this extremely large or heavy piece of furniture and also help protect your floor. They create a smooth layer between the legs of the item and the floor. If you don't have furniture sliders you can always use a jar lid, a piece of cardboard or even a plastic flying disc.

Once the sliders are in place, it's just a matter of pushing or pulling the furniture to its new location. If you need to lift it into the back of a truck or downstairs, find someone to help you first.

Now that you've successfully moved that large furniture piece, watch Public Storage teach you how to pack a moving truck or any of the other how-to videos from Public Storage at https://www.publicstorage.com.</video:description>

<video:title>Public Storage: How to Pack A Moving Truck</video:title>
<video:description>While it’s tempting to just load everything onto the moving truck as you carry it out, improperly packing a moving truck can cause serious damage to your precious cargo. So Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you how to pack a moving truck. Visit https://www.publicstorage.com for more how-to videos and other tips.

First, load your boxes near the back of the truck. Since these are smaller, they are safer in this area and have less of a chance of moving when other stuff gets loaded in front of them.

Next, place large items like your mattress and box spring against the sidewall of the truck and secure them with motorcycle straps. It’s best to strap items down as you load them rather than all at the end.

If you have any artwork or mirrors, slide them in between the mattresses and box springs. This will minimize movement during transport, keeping them from being punctured or ripped.

Then protect your furniture with moving blankets and stretch wrap and load it onto the truck. The blankets and stretch wrap help prevent your items from being dinged or dented if they shift during transport.

Load your appliances last so they can be hooked up as soon as you reach your destination.

After that, load a bag with all of the items that you’ll need on the first day. This includes clothing, toiletries and any other essential items.

Fill any remaining space with pillows to keep smaller items safe if dislodged during transport.

Now you know how to pack a moving truck. If you’re struggling to move a piano, refrigerator or heavy furniture out of your home and onto that truck, check out https://www.publicstorage.com for more how-to videos.</video:description>

<video:title>Public Storage: How to Pack Your Storage Unit</video:title>
<video:description>It can be tempting to just cram everything into your storage space, but that doesn’t always make your life easier. Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you the best way to pack your storage space. For other how-to videos, visit https://www.publicstorage.com

The first step once you have all your items in boxes is to make sure those boxes are labeled correctly.

Next, separate the heavy boxes from the lighter ones and move the heavier ones in to the unit. Keep them on the bottom to create a sturdy base for the rest of the boxes.

Before putting all of your stuff inside your unit, make sure you have left enough room for an aisle. There's nothing worse than getting all of your stuff inside and then having to climb over it to get out.

Be creative with how you use the space. For example, if you have a refrigerator, store items like books and DVDs inside of it. Just be sure to leave the fridge door wedged open for circulation. For more tips on how to store and move a refrigerator, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-15yEa9CvY.

Once you have everything inside your storage unit, create a map so you can easily find your items you need on your next time you visit.

      <video:title>Public Storage: How to Store a Car</video:title>
<video:description>Storing a car is as simple as park, lock and leave, right?! Not exactly. Storing a car improperly can cause serious damage to your vehicle — that’s why Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you how to store a car with these easy-to-remember tips. For other great storage tips, or to find vehicle storage near you, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.

The first thing you want to do is clean the interior and the exterior. Although you're not using your vehicle, it's best to give it a good clean to maximize the ability of the vehicle's finish to withstand any elements.

The next step is to change all of the fluids in the car including the oil and the filter, the coolant and the brake fluid. You can also bring your car to a mechanic and they will take care of these items for you.

Fill up your gas tank. It sounds counterintuitive, but this prevents condensation in the gas tank. Also, if you’re storing your vehicle longer than 30 days, it’s best to add fuel stabilizer to keep fuel fresh.

Overinflate your tires to prevent flat spotting. This is when tires lose their round shape.

Now that your car is ready to be stored, take it to your storage space and park it.

When storing a vehicle, remove the battery, take it home and put it on a float-charger (also called a trickle charger), so when you're ready to ride, your ride is ready to run. If you can't remove the battery, simply disconnect it.

Finally, surround your car with cedar balls. This helps to keep out bugs, insects and rodents.

Now you know how to store your car for extended periods of time. The next step is to book your storage space at https://www.publicstorage.com. If you liked this how-to video, stick around and watch more of them from Public Storage.</video:description>

<video:description>Nothing’s more heartbreaking than the sound of glass breaking. That’s why Public Storage is here to teach you how to pack your glassware properly and avoid breakage.

Visit https://www.PublicStorage.com to check out more helpful how-to videos.

First, line a sturdy box with bubble wrap. This helps protect your contents from all sides.

After that, place crumbled paper at the base on the box. We recommend acid-free newsprint to avoid the transfer of ink to you or your belongings.

Lay the newsprint out, place your item in the corner and roll it in 2-3 sheets of newsprint paper. Be sure to tuck in the extra paper on each side of the glass as you roll.

If it's a sturdier glass, place it on the bottom of the box. The more fragile glassware should be placed on the top.

Use cardboard to create layers in your box for easy stacking.

Finally, label your box accurately to make items easier to find the next time you're at your storage unit. It’s best to use the terms “FRAGILE” or “GLASSWARE” – this helps ensure that your items are handled with care.

<video:title>Public Storage: How to Store Wine to Maintain Quality</video:title>
<video:description>Nothing’s worse than opening a special bottle of wine and finding out that it’s gone bad. That's why Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you how to store your wine properly so you don't damage the quality while it's in storage or in your home. Visit https://www.publicstorage.com/ for more how-to videos and other tips.

First, wine should always be kept still. A lot of movement or vibrations can prevent sediments from settling and affect the taste of the wine. This is especially important for older wines.

Next, store your wine bottles on their side to keep the corks moist. This helps prevent the cork from drying out and shrinking, which can allow air into the bottle and oxidize the wine prematurely. This is an important step in maintaining the integrity of the wine.

After the wine has been added to the box, make sure that wherever you store, it stays between 45-65 degrees Fahrenheit. Having a cool and more consistent temperature is better as there is less expansion and contraction of the wine and the bottle, which can force the bouquet or aroma out through the cork with every expansion. Temperature also contributes to oxidation. The warmer the wine, the more oxidation occurs.

Once you have found a nice cool place to store the wine, make sure that it's dark. Sunlight can contribute to the oxidation process and can ruin wine.

Now that you know the proper way to store wine, go ahead and have a glass! If you want to learn more tips or watch more how-to videos, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.</video:description>

<video:title>Public Storage: Easy Packing and Moving Hacks</video:title>
<video:description>There are hacks for just about anything, including moving and storing. So Frank from Public Storage is here to teach you how to hack your move. For more how-to videos, visit https://www.publicstorage.com.

The Box Hack
First, assemble the base of your cardboard box if not already done. If it's a brand new box, do not cut the tab that connects each side of the box top. This is called the Nuna Tab. These tabs are meant to keep the top flaps out of the way while you pack your items.

Next, use a color code system for box labels, assigning a different color for each room of your home or office. This makes it easier to place your items at your destination.

Once the boxes are labeled and your items are added, cut the Nuna Tabs. Secure the top flaps with tape or fold them in under each other. Then cut handholds on each side of the box to help with lifting. If you’re packing something that can easily be damaged, cut the handholds before loading the box’s content.

The Door Trick
Tired of awkwardly trying to twist door knobs while your hands are full? This simple and easy hack helps keep the door unlocked while you carry items in and out of your home. Simply twist a rubber band into a figure eight and hook the loops around the door handles. Make sure the part where the rubber band crosses itself is located over the latch of the door. This will prevent the door from latching shut while you move through the doorway.

The Pack Hack
During the process of packing and moving, it's easy to forget that you’ll need certain things immediately at your destination. Pack a separate bag to hold all of the items that you’ll need on the first day. This way, you don’t have to dig through packed boxes to find your toothbrush or deodorant.
